Michael is an experienced marketing research professional and business leader with a proven track record for delivering strategic recommendations to clients at the C-suite level.
He has a demonstrated history of designing sophisticated research and intelligence programs and effective analytical frameworks, combined with exceptional communication skills in delivering business-led insight. A skilled trainer and sought-after conference speaker, Michael is proficient on a range of subjects including consumer insight, research methods, segmentation, strategic planning, customer engagement and marketing strategy.
Michael spent 34 years in the research industry with TNS Canada (part of the Kantar group) and its predecessor Canadian Facts. He has held various senior executive positions during his tenure at the firm, including Executive Vice President, Head of Client Service and Consumer Insights and eventually rising to the position of President and Managing Director of TNS Canada from 2009 through 2017. He has also served on the TNS North America Board of Directors and has held leadership positions on industry associations such as the MRIA (Research Agencies Council Standards Chair) and the TTRA (Marketing Chair).
Michael’s executive and management responsibilities did not deter him from taking an active leadership role as strategic consultant to a number of key clients. In recent years, this roster of clients has included, Sun Life, Scotiabank, Imperial Tobacco, The Globe and Mail, Airport Council International and numerous clients in the tourism sector. In each of these relationships, Michael assumed the role of project architect and strategic consultant.
